I guess I am about as indecisive as the next guy on a limited budget and looking for the perfect tractor. I need a smaller tractor for basically loader and implement duty around my small farm in Western NC. I am tired of borrowing equipment from my long-suffering friends and got it into my head that something on the order of a JD 750 would be about right. But I would also like to use it for mowing, if possible, although the JD F935 I have now does it real well. I have had a number of dealers try to talk me into 855's and it sounds real nice to be able to have the mower and loader on at the same time...something they tell me is not possible with the 750. Is this true/ and is it true for all loaders? I have found it hard to find the tractor I want for less than about $8-9K and several folks have told me the thing to do is get the tractor and add the loader. I have been using a Kubota 4310 that has a joystick Woods loader on it and it's great. Has anybody added a non JD loader to their tractor who is willing to share the tale? By the way, what I'm looking for is a 4wd 750/850 in good-ex shape , maybe with turfs or r-4, with a loader? with a mid-deck? Am I whistling in the wind? Thanks.

Glen, since you want to use a mid-mount mower and loader, then the only choice is to go factory all the way. I have a JD 4100 with JD mid-mower. Last year I was in the market for a loader and found some fine loaders made by other companies. I almost bought a Great Bend loader until I discovered that the sub-frame for the Great Bend and the mower both used the same frame mounting locations - complete incompatability. If you want to use both of these items, you will have to go factory. Also, I think that your price is a little low. You could probably get a used tractor and mowing deck or maybe a tractor/loader for that price, but not all three items. Also beware if you're looking at older models like 750, 850... It is darn near impossible to find factory mid-mount mowers to fit these machines. You could save money and frustration by going with a rear 3 PH mower. That way you could buy an older tractor plus any loader and still use the 3 PH mower. ....
